MagicMeal
iPhone app for finding recipes that use ingredients on-hand
For this mobile information project, our group of 3 students designed an iPhone application that assists people with less cooking experience in finding recipes that can be prepared with ingredients on-hand.
We developed our persona, Meghan, and a user scenario where Meghan is babysitting one night and has to prepare dinner for a 4-year old baby with whatever is available at home. We identified that finding a recipe for a decent meal with the limited ingredients available is the main goal for the babysitter.
In our final design, the user can select a few key ingredients to cook with, choose a suggested recipe and then check if she has the other ingredients required for cooking. By crossing out ingredients she doesn't have, the app suggests other recipes, letting the user narrow down to the right recipe through the process.
INDIVIDUAL CONTRIBUTION
All team members were involved in the persona creation, ideation and design process. In addition, I was responsible for creating wireframe sketches and the user scenario for presenting our design.
